Rotary International has supported Alzheimer's research in a big way since 1996 when CART (Coins for Alzheimer's Research) was started.  Each week at Rotary Clubs around the world, we ask members to donate the 'coins' in their pockets for this worthy cause.

It's that time of year!  Our Smart Directory is hot off the presses and ready for distribution!  Join us on Saturday, October 3 (after the ALZ Walk) to help distribute these to residents across PTC.  Join up with another Rotarian or your spouse, children or grandkids for a fun afternoon!

Pickup at Mobile Storage Depot - 200 Kelly Drive, Peachtree City - starting at 10:30 am.

The Peachtree City Livable Center Initiative was first introduced to our club in February 2020.  Since that time, there have been many interviews with stakeholders, development of concept plans and streetscape proposals, launch of a virtual pop-up to introduce the concepts and an online survey to continue to gather inputs.  Most of that data can be reviewed at www.peachtreecitylci.com.  

As they are now entering the final stages of the study, they woudl like to give our club a sneak-preview of what will be presented to the public on October 22.

Devereaux "Devy" Bruch Eyler grew up knowing she was adopted. But she didn't know, until she was in her 70s, that she had been stolen from her birth mother, who had been told she was dead.  Devy was one of the Georgia Tann babies. 

From 1924 until her death in 1950, Georgia Tann operated a black-market adoption ring at the Memphis branch of the Tennessee Children's Home Society. Tann stole the babies and children from their birth families and acquired millions selling the children to couples around the US.

Dragon Boat maintenance continues. Two of the six boats have clean hulls now, and Tim will be out there working on the last four boats on Saturday 11/14. If you would like to roll up your sleeves and help, contact Tim. He will send you the location information.

Since 2012 AFM has conducted more than 1,200 successful suicide interventions working directly with the military and ​First Responder communities and with people from all walks of life from the mountains of North Georgia to the Southern Crescent south of metro Atlanta.

Mayor Vanessa Fleisch was reelected to a second term in 2017. Her focus throughout both her term on the Peachtree City Council and as Mayor has been on infrastructure across the city.

The annual St. Paul Frostbite 5k and Fun Run is a PTL event for St. Paul Lutheran School. The race is a part of the Peachtree City Rotary Grand Prix race series. All funds raised for the event help the school purchase curriculum, technology updates, and other school needs.

The Rotary Action Group Against Slavery will be hosting a webinar sharing some perspective on the great progress that has been made in the fight against modern-day slavery/ human trafficking and next steps.

In Addition to keynote speaker (TIP) Ambassador John Cotton Richmond and Val Richey (OSCE) we will have insightful panel discussions on: Health Care/ What needs to be done to make a difference, Financial Services: What needs to be done to make a difference, Survivor Services: What needs to be done to make a difference: Speaker on Education/Prevention.

Promise Place provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and their children. These services include emergency shelter, a 24 hr emergency hotline, legal advocacy, weekly support groups, relocation assistance, financial assistance, crisis counseling, safety planning, a teen dating violence prevention program in all area high schools, follow up services and community education. .

A native to Fayette County, Judge Thompson is a graduate of Maryville College and Cumberland School of Law. Prior to being appointed to the bench by Governor Nathan Deal in April, 2013, he was elected to serve as Fayette County Magistrate Court where he presided over both civil and criminal matters. Judge Thompson was elected Fayette County State Court Judge in May, 2014, in an uncontested race.

Judge Thompson has received a number of professional and community awards. Judge Thompson was re-appointed as the State Court Representative to the Chief Justice of Georgia's Judicial Council Access, Fairness, and Public Trust and Confidence Committee. After serving as Chief Judge of the Trial Advocacy Board, he was asked to serve on the Order of Barristers. He was elected by his peers to serve as President of the Fayette County Bar Association. After serving as coach of the Fayette County High School and McIntosh High School mock trial teams, he served as Statewide Chairman of the High School Mock Trial Program. Judge Thompson currently serves on the Training Committee of the Council of Accountability Court Judges.

Judge Thompson has organized and lectured at The People's Law School of Fayette County. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Point University. He also served as a member of the Fayette County Development Authority. Judge Thompson is a graduate of, and current presenter for, Leadership Fayette. He is an active member of the Peachtree City Rotary Club, a member of the Board of Directors for AVPride, The Joseph Sams School, and the Board of Advisors for The Southern Crescent Chorale.

Most weekends, you can find Judge Thompson at the soccer fields either coaching or refereeing local youth games. He is a Commissioner for Georgia Soccer Officials Association. Judge Thompson and his wife, Alisha, have three children, and reside in Fayetteville. They attend Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.

With the recent formation of the Fayette County State Court DUI Court in January 2016, Judge Thompson created the first accountability court in a State Court in the Griffin Judicial Circuit.
