It was a full week of Rotary in action across Peachtree City as District Governor Cynthia Edwards joined our members for several days of service, fellowship, leadership, and connection.
Cynthia’s time in Peachtree City included our Midwest Food Bank service project, a visit with our Rotary Community Corps club members, dinner with our board, a board meeting, and opportunities to connect with club members and leadership.
Along the way, Cynthia heard updates on the work taking place across our club and shared ideas around membership, public image, strategic planning, support for The Rotary Foundation, expanding service in our communities, leadership development, member training, and succession planning.
The week culminated Thursday at our weekly luncheon, where President Tammy Soulakos introduced Cynthia and her husband, Lonnie Edwards, before Cynthia shared Rotary’s message and reflected on her own reason for joining. Our club also had the opportunity to celebrate Cynthia’s birthday and make the afternoon even more special.
Cynthia spoke about the legacy of service left by her father and the importance of the legacy each of us leaves behind. She also reflected on peace and the important role economics, culture, and education play in helping people and communities thrive.
She closed by challenging us to consider an important question: What are we doing to create environments where others have the opportunities, support, and resources they need to succeed?
We also had another reason to celebrate as the Rotary Club of Peachtree City was recognized as a 2026 Fayette County Citizen’s Choice Award winner for helping create a stronger, more connected community.
It was a meaningful week, a great visit, and a reminder of the many ways Rotary brings people together to serve, connect, lead, and strengthen our community.
